Geothermal wells are the buried half of a ground-source heat pump system — the vertical boreholes that let a house trade heat with the earth, where the temperature holds steady all year. Across Montgomery, Frederick, Carroll, Howard, Washington and Baltimore counties, we drill geothermal boreholes and install the loops that HVAC systems tie into: the same rigs, crews and rock knowledge as our water well drilling, applied to heating and cooling.
Vertical loops are the geothermal answer for normal-sized Maryland lots — a horizontal loop field wants acres of trenching, while vertical boreholes put the same heat-exchange capacity down a few deep holes in a corner of the yard. We drill the bores, set and grout the loop pipe so it transfers heat properly, and hand your geothermal HVAC contractor a loop field ready to connect.

A few feet down, Maryland ground holds a steady temperature year-round — warmer than winter air, cooler than summer air. A geothermal heat pump exploits that gap: fluid circulates through loops in the boreholes, carrying heat out of the house in summer and into it in winter. The result is heating and cooling at efficiencies furnaces and air-source units cannot match.
The boreholes are the foundation of all of it. Each bore is drilled to the depth the system design calls for, the U-loop of pipe goes down the hole, and the bore is grouted with thermally conductive grout — the detail that decides whether the loops actually exchange heat with the ground or just sit in a hole. We drill and grout to the spec, because the system's efficiency is set the day the loops go in.
Geothermal projects live or die on the drilling line item, and drilling in fractured Maryland rock is exactly what our rigs and crews do all day. We know what the ground in this region does at depth, how to keep a bore open and straight, and how to work on residential properties without wrecking the yard around the work.
We coordinate directly with your geothermal HVAC contractor or designer — bore count, depth, spacing and loop configuration come from the heat-load design, and we drill what the design needs. If you are earlier in the process and just want to know whether your lot can host vertical loops, we will look at it and give you a straight answer.
On new construction, geothermal is at its easiest — the loop field goes in during sitework, alongside the water well if the property needs one of those too. One mobilization, one crew, both holes. On existing homes, we place bores to work around septic fields, utilities and mature trees; the drilling disturbance is days, and lawns recover.
The payoff is a mechanical system with the expensive half buried and inert: loops have no moving parts and are built to outlast the equipment they serve. If you are weighing geothermal, get the drilling side priced early — it is the variable that differs most by property. Site evaluations are free.

(301) 393-7090From the first look at the property to water proven at your tap, here is exactly how it goes.
We come see the actual situation — the well, the equipment, the water, the ground. What's failing, why, and what the fix really is. No blind quotes over the phone.
You get a free written estimate with a real number and a real plan. It says what's included — drilling, equipment, connection, permits — and it holds unless the scope changes.
The crew shows up with the right equipment and does the job the way we quoted it — drill, frack, pull the pump, set the tank, build the treatment. Anything unexpected, you hear about it immediately, not on the invoice.
We don't call it done until the water proves it: yield checked, pressure steady, system cycled, and testing when the job calls for it. Done means water at your tap — and you saying it's done.

Pressure tanks, switches and constant-pressure systems — installed, repaired and sized right, so the shower stops surging and the pump stops suffering.

Unused, failed or replaced wells properly sealed to county requirements — protecting your property, the groundwater, and your paperwork.

Complete well system checks — yield, pump performance, tank, wellhead condition and water quality — documented for home sales or your own peace of mind.
View DetailsDrilling, hydrofracking, pumps, pressure tanks, testing, treatment — the rigs and the service trucks belong to the same outfit, so one call covers the whole system.
A house without water is an emergency, and we run the operation that way. Call day or night — phone triage is free, and if it needs a truck, a truck moves.
We look at the actual property, price it in writing, and tell you what is worth doing and what is not — including when hydrofracking beats drilling new. No phone guesses.
Based in Poolesville, working six counties. We know what this region’s fractured rock and limestone valleys do to wells — and we drill and service for it.
No water, weak pressure, a well to drill, water that needs testing or treatment? Call or send the form and we will look at the property with you and hand you a free written estimate — and for a house that is dry right now, we answer 24/7.
